The Productivity Commission reports the shocking state of our prisons and the unacceptably high rates of re-incarceration, especially indigenous Australians. One question - Why did the SA Govt not disclose our State's prison statistics to the Commission? Surely they are proud of how we rack 'em, stack 'em and pack 'em? Minister Tom Koutsantonis also seems proud of the fact that "only" a third of prisoners are back behind bars within 2 years of release. If that is success, I hate to imagine failure!
