The Greens SA have announced current sitting MLC, Tammy Franks, as our preselected lead candidate for the Legislative Council in the March 2018 State Election.
The Greens SA have been represented continuously in the State Parliament since 2004 and in the Upper House since 2006. The Greens currently have two MLCs who hold shared balance of power in the state Upper House and have played a critical role in legislation and holding the government to account.
“I am looking forward a strong Green vote at the next State election and keeping two Greens MLCs on the SA Parliament crossbenches. I am confident Tammy will continue to represent South Australians effectively and compassionately just as she has done since her first election in 2010. Tammy’s work in the community will stand her in good stead to secure the votes we need to keep a strong Green voice in State Parliament”, said Mark Parnell MLC, State Parliamentary Leader.
Tammy Franks MLC stated:
“I am honoured to have the support of my fellow party members to continue the vital job we need to do in State Parliament. We Greens have a fine record of getting results in the Chamber for the good of the environment and the community but there is still so much more to do.
“I would like to thank Greens members for, once again, putting their faith in me to be their representative in the 2018 election.
“With just over 300 days to go until State Election 2018, I look forward to continuing the essential work of the Greens for a cleaner economy, fairer society and a more democratic Parliament. This will be our mission regardless of which of the old parties wins government in March 2018”.
[Note: Mark Parnell MLC was re-elected in 2014 and his term expires in 2022]
